The Kitchener Improvement District Board of Trustees wishes to remind all residents and stakeholders that the window to receive a 10% discount on water tolls will close on March 31, 2024. This opportunity represents a critical juncture for community members to contribute towards the sustainability and efficiency of our water system at a reduced cost. We urge all to take prompt action to benefit from this discount.
Introduction of Certified Small Water System Operators
We are pleased to announce a significant enhancement to our water distribution system management with the addition of two certified small water system operators, Jon Delcaro and Keith Sweeten, who are members of our Board of Trustees. They are both volunteering their time and expertise to help Kitchener adopt and implement best practices in water distribution. Their commitment to our community's well-being is deeply appreciated, and their contributions are instrumental in our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve our water infrastructure.
Spring Clean Out Scheduled
We also announce that the Spring Clean Out has been scheduled for the weekend of May 11. This year, the Board of Trustees will undertake the necessary maintenance tasks. While the community's physical participation is not requested, we value your support and understanding as we perform these crucial activities to maintain the integrity of our water distribution system. We will be putting out more notices as we get closer to the date work is to be completed.
Comprehensive Distribution System Assessment
In our ongoing efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of our water infrastructure, a Comprehensive Distribution System Assessment will be conducted. This evaluation is aimed at identifying the current state of our system and pinpointing areas that require upgrades or enhancements. This process is vital for our planning and future project prioritization. There will be many days planned over the spring and summer for us to conduct this work.
Financial Update and Forward Look
Lastly, we are nearing the completion of our financial preparations for 2023, with our records soon to be forwarded to the auditor for review. As we look ahead to 2024, we are committed to making it a year of progress and strategic planning. The support and engagement of our community members are essential as we navigate these developments.
We thank you for your ongoing commitment to the Kitchener Improvement District and look forward to another year of collective effort towards improving our community's water system.
